Hi guys I will explain briefly on which e-commerce platform will be good for you.

Prestashop as well as opencart are both excellent platforms where you can easily create your ecommerce stores online.

For both of these you will need your hosting services and you will also need your own domain name and you will need to register with atleast one payment gateway.

Okay so let me stick to the main topic that is a comparison between prestashop and opencart.

1.User interface.

Both of these freeecommerce platforms have a very nice website interface.You can easily add products, delete products as well as add different types of products like prestashop has an option of adding downloadable products.Opencart has a superb dashbord section where you can see the people who visit your website form which parts of the world and whereas prestashop has a dashboard where you can also integrate google analytics with and you can also see the number of sales the percentage and so on.

The opencart theme uses a white and blue theme design in the front where as a stylish theme in the back office panel as well

Whereas prestashop uses themes that look like a very simple store.

But the plus point is that these stores can be easily be updated with new themes just like  a wordpress website the problem is that there are a few choices if you would want to go for a free theme.If you would go for a paid theme both these platforms will give you an ecommerce store that has a great design.

2.Performance

This is what I tough is a very important aspect when comparing these two amazing CMS ecommerce platforms.

The performance of Opencart is slightly better in terms of server load usage whereas in prestashop I have heard many people complain about their store being very slow.Some people have regretted about selecting the prestashop cms.

3.Coding.

This is an important part if you are a website developer.Prestashop works using the smarty frameworks in php whereas opencart works in a similar MVC that is module view controller framework.

I have heard several complains about Opencart having very difficult coding syntax .This includes many repetitive code and which will make it very difficult for a developer to understand.

4.Support.

When it comes to about talking about support.Prestashop has a very slow support at times if you ask for questions in the form sometimes you may never get a reply .The forum needs more active moderators that can help with peoples issues on their stores.

In Opencart I had seen many spam comments on their community forum.Both of these softwares should have good support forums in order to boost their community.
